Thanksgiving and Day After Shopping

Obviously, this post is a little late, BUT Thanksgiving was fun and the day after shopping was even better! This year Joe went with me. I was a little nervous about it, because I cram seven to eight hours worth of shopping in before noon and I doubted his ability to hang with me. However, he showed me up and helped me out a bunch.

A few stories from the day...

1) We went to Target in Lincoln first and got there a little after 5:00 am. The razor scooters that we drove all the way up there for, were already out, but I heard someone say that they keep on restocking, so we waited a few minutes and sure enough an employee came walking by with about six scooters. There were about ten parents waiting to get them very patiently...me and Joe, not so patient. Joe reached over the top of the worker an grabbed two before anyone else had the chance. Then we were able to be number 3 in line to check out. Unfortunately, we chose someone who just started working that morning, so were were in line for about 15-20 minutes anyways.

2) Next we headed for Wal-Mart in Roseville. It was a madhouse. I bet if you looked at it from an aerial perspective it would have looked like an ant farm. We found everything we wanted and then headed to the lines to check out. The line that we saw had probably 50 people in it, so Joe sent me on a mission to find a shorter or faster line. I walked to the other side and the line was still long, but it was moving faster. I was mistakingly under the impression that the outside line were feeding into the registers in the middle. That would make sense, right? Wrong! This is Wal-Mart we are talking about. So, after waiting another 20 minutes, Joe got impatient and went to look at the lines himself. Next thing I new he moved us and all of our stuff to the middle registers and we were about number 6 in line...oops. I didn't know he meant to check the front of the store.

3) Next we hit up Toys R Us. Last year, when I went there I was there at opening and waited in line for about an hour. This year we got there around 8 and walked right in! It was wonderful. At Toys R Us we realized that we needed to buy Luke a remote control helicopter, becasue we bought Jake one and luckily there was one on sale for $20. When we found the display there was one left and a man was looking at it. So, we sat there trying not to look crazy and he put it down. I motioned to Joe to pick it up, so he did. Then Joe asks the man if he wanted it...What was he thinking!?!? This is not how day after Thanksgiving shopping works! You grab and run...you snooze you loose! The other man proceeded to say that he was looking for the helicopter that was on sale and Joe told him that the one he was looking at was it. The guy then says that he doesn't want it, because he felt bad. He went to go find an employee to see if there was another one for us, which there wasn't. After we assured him that it was ok for him to have it, we went to another display of helicopters and Joe had the GREAT idea to look in the back of all the expensive helicopters. Waaaayyy in the back were two of the sale helicopters that someone had hid for later I'm sure...SUCKERS!

To top off the morning, we finished up by going out to breakfast...yum! Thanks to my cousin Emilee for staying the night and watching the boys for us.

haha on #2- that's what Joe gets for having his 8 month wife to go wander around looking for a shorter line!

And I love Jess your reaction to Joe asking if the guy wanted the toy...I would be more like Joe, feel bad and ask if wanted it and now I know you wouldn't care less of grabbing and going! :D
