Family Camp 2010

This is going to be one long picture blog of our annual family camping trip with the Elmers.

The theme this year was Harry Potter, which the kids really enjoyed. 

I have to admit, I am not much of a camper

...at all...

but it is nice and fun to be together with family for a few days with no interruption of "normal" life.

This may be the last year that we venture up to Woodchuck Flats, because they are going to start charging and there are NO amenities, which doesn't make any sense.  So, as a family we will likely try a new campsite. Everyone is sad to see things change...I'm a little less sad than some.  I'm liking the idea of a campsite with flushing toilets, running water...ahhhhhh.  I can dream right?

If you notice how large the fire is, that is due to the self imposed challenge that my dear husband puts upon himself to basically freak his mother out with the largest fire he can muster.

Today Noah began eating solid food, which meant he had to begin with rice cereal.  It's definitely not the tastiest stuff he's ever gonna eat.  It looks like he even wants to punch us for giving it to him!

The Sunday Surprise!

We have church at 1 this year.

{I know it's a horrible time, isn't it?}

Usually we are running into the car to head off to church and no one is on our street, 

because they are all in their homes.  

However, today was a little different. 

We opened the garages door and saw a ton of water rushing down the street.  

It was weird especially since it's July and Sacramento.  

Another odd thing was all of our neighbors were out of their houses staring down the street.  

Then we turned and saw what they were all looking at.

Clearly, someone didn't make the turn and hit the fire hydrant that was in someone's yard.

Here comes the fire department to the rescue.  It was really, really hot that day.  Almost all of the firemen got under the huge plume of water to do whatever they needed to do.  It must of been a nice break from the normal stuff they have to do in the summer.

Utah Trip Day 3

On Saturday we were able to pick Joe up from the airport in Salt Lake City and head down to Circleville for the reception.  

These first couple of pictures are from the night before at Krista and Scott's apartment.

After the reception the guys played basketball at Scott's parents' and blew up a fertilizer bomb out in some field.  It was so big that you could literally feel it at the house and they were pretty far away.

I wasn't able to get in good pictures at the reception...but it was beautiful.

After we were done here we headed to Cedar City to stay the night.  Luke woke up with a fever and he had it the whole way home.  This meant that we were not able to do any of the other fun stuff we had planned.  We just got home as fast as we could.

Utah Trip Day 2

On Friday we ventured up to Ogden to go to the Dinosaur Park, which is one of my favorite places to take the boys to when we are visiting.  They LOVE it there.  Luke was actually afraid of the fossils and displays, it was hilarious..  I took a ton of pictures, so there may be a lot to look at, but like a said, it's one of my favorite places to visit!

These two pictures are of the boys by one of my favorite displays.  The Triceratops and the T-Rex are actual robots that move and make noise.  It's awesome.  When you walk by you will see parents just standing there and staring.  We know it's fake, but it's still fun to look at.

Utah Trip Day 1

On July 7th I drove back to Utah for Krista's second reception.  Since Joe was working and my parents weren't too happy with the idea of me carting their 3 grandsons across a couple of states, I asked my sister in law Elizabeth to join me on my trip.  So, we set out with my three boys and her daughter Veronica Wednesday morning.  Our first full day in Utah was Thursday, and we chose to go to temple square to spend the day.  We were able to go on the tour of the conference center.  It was supposed to be a short tour, which is what we requested.  Apparently, our tour guide didn't get the message and took an hour talking to the other women that were on the tour with us.  After that we got lunch and walked temple grounds.  All in all a nice day...minus the super tour.

Even Luke liked the fireworks.  Sounds like a small thing, but this is the first year that he was actually able to sit through them without crying.
