Getaway Weekend Stop #2

Our second stop was the Point Reyes lighthouse. My intention for going to the lighthouse was to stay for a while, since it is whale migration season, BUT the weather had different plans. A few minutes into our 1/2 mile walk to the lighthouse we could literally see the rain moving in over the ocean. Unfortunately, it was not rain we saw, but hail! I didn't even know that it could hail at the ocean. There I was walking towards the lighthouse with Jacob screaming, "What is this? It's hurting my face!" So, I gave Jacob a little science lesson on the path, while people were running past us to their cars. I'm just glad through the hail and the wind no one could really tell how we torture our kids so we can have fun.

This was taken before the hail moved in. There were dear everywhere which was pretty neat to see.

Here's Jake upon the arrival into the lighthouse. The walk to the light house was about a 1/2 mile, then we got to walk about 300 steps down to the lighthouse. Does he look scared to anyone else?
This was one of the rare moments we got Luke to smile on this adventure. He was not a fan of the rain or wind.

As we were getting ready to head back up the 300 steps, the rain tapered off just enough to take a quick family shot.

As soon as Jake knew we were leaving, he took off up the stairs. I haven't seen him move that fast in a while.

I was bringing up the rear, so to buy myself some time (and a rest) I made Joe stop for a picture. Luke was not as happy to oblige.

When we arrived back at the van, Luke was panic stricken to get into the van. Here he is trying to pull the back hatch open. We just weren't moving fast enough for him.

He was happy to recover with a Dr. Pepper!
